Self-exclusion, step by step

Self-exclusion is a formal request to be blocked from gambling for a set period. In many countries one registration covers every licensed operator. Choose your country for a practical manual: where to go, what you need, how long it lasts and how to make it watertight.

How self-exclusion works

Self-exclusion comes in three forms. A national register (such as GAMSTOP in Great Britain, OASIS in Germany or BetStop in Australia) blocks you from every licensed operator with one request. Operator-level exclusion only applies to the single company you ask. Venue schemes cover land-based casinos, arcades or betting shops.

No scheme can block unlicensed, offshore websites. That's why we recommend pairing exclusion with blocking software and a bank gambling block — three layers are far harder to get around than one.
