Step-by-step manual
Self-exclusion in Italy
Italy's self-exclusion system for online gambling is centralised by ADM. A request made through any licensed site, or through ADM's own service, is recorded in the national register (RUA, Registro Unico delle Autoesclusioni) and applies to every licensed online concessionaire, closing or blocking all your gaming accounts. You can choose a fixed exclusion of 30, 60 or 90 days, which ends automatically, or an indefinite exclusion, which you can revoke only after at least six months. Land-based gambling is not covered in the same way, although some venues and regions offer their own tools. As of late 2026, the reorganisation under D.Lgs. 41/2024 continues to shape how the register works, so check the latest instructions on ADM's website.

The steps
- 1
Have your ID ready
You will need your codice fiscale and access to your gaming account, or a digital identity (SPID or CIE) if you apply through ADM's online services.
- 2
Request exclusion
Log in to any licensed gambling account and choose 'autoesclusione' in the responsible gaming section, or use ADM's self-exclusion service. The request is recorded in the national register.
- 3
Choose fixed or indefinite
Select 30, 60 or 90 days, or indefinite. The indefinite option offers the strongest protection and cannot be revoked for at least six months.
- 4
What happens next
All licensed online concessionaires must block you from gambling and from opening new accounts. Remaining balances can be withdrawn.
- 5
Block illegal sites and payments
ADM blocks many illegal sites, but not all. Add blocking software and ask your bank about gambling transaction blocks.
- 6
Seek treatment
Contact your local SerD for free assessment and treatment, or call the ISS Telefono Verde for advice.
- 7
Ending the exclusion
Fixed periods end automatically. To revoke an indefinite exclusion, wait at least six months, then submit a revocation request through your account or ADM's procedure.
Before you start โ what to know
- The RUA covers all ADM-licensed online gambling; one request applies to every concessionaire.
- Fixed periods are 30, 60 or 90 days; indefinite exclusion is revocable only after six months.
- Land-based slot halls, betting shops and casinos are not covered by the online register in the same way; ask venues and your region about local tools.
- Illegal sites (not ending in ADM-authorised domains) do not check the register.
- Bank gambling blocks and blocking software add useful protection.
