Step-by-step manual
Self-exclusion in Brazil
Since December 2025 Brazil has had a centralised self-exclusion platform run by the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets. Anyone with a gov.br account at silver or gold level can block themselves from all licensed betting and online gaming operators at once, for one, three, six or twelve months or indefinitely. Once active, licensed operators must stop the person from placing bets and stop sending them targeted advertising. More than 217,000 people had registered by January 2026. Operators must also offer their own self-exclusion and limit tools. The platform does not reach illegal sites, so blocking tools remain useful.

The steps
- 1
Upgrade your gov.br account if needed
You need a gov.br account at silver (prata) or gold (ouro) level. Upgrade by validating your identity through a partner bank, facial recognition in the gov.br app, or a digital certificate.
- 2
Open the self-exclusion service
Go to the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets area of the Ministry of Finance website and choose the self-exclusion option. Log in with your gov.br credentials.
- 3
Request self-exclusion and choose a period
Select one, three, six or twelve months, or an indefinite period. Choose the longest period you can commit to.
- 4
Give a reason and accept the terms
The system asks for a reason and for you to accept the terms of use, so the request is recorded as voluntary. Then confirm the request.
- 5
Check that the block is working
Licensed operators must block betting on your CPF and stop targeted ads. You can generally withdraw existing balances; report any operator that still lets you bet to the SPA.
- 6
Add extra barriers and support
Install blocking software to cover illegal sites, ask your bank about restricting payments to betting merchants, and contact a CAPS or Jogadores Anรดnimos for support.
Before you start โ what to know
- The platform covers every SPA-licensed operator, linked to your CPF taxpayer number.
- It does not cover illegal or offshore sites, state-licensed lotteries operating outside the federal system, or land-based bingo where it exists.
- Operators must also provide their own limits, time-outs and self-exclusion tools.
- Rules on ending an exclusion early are set by the SPA; check the platform's terms before enrolling.
- Self-exclusion is a barrier, not treatment. Pair it with support from SUS services or peer groups.

Frequently asked questions
Is online betting legal in Brazil?
Yes. Since 1 January 2025, fixed-odds sports betting and online casino games are legal when offered by operators authorised by the Ministry of Finance's Secretariat of Prizes and Bets.
How do I self-exclude from all betting sites in Brazil?
Log in to the SPA self-exclusion service with a silver or gold gov.br account, choose a period from one month to indefinite, and confirm. All licensed operators must then block you.
Can I use a credit card to bet?
No. Licensed operators may not accept credit cards or cryptocurrency; deposits must come from accounts in the player's own name, typically via Pix or bank transfer.
How is betting taxed?
Operators pay tax on gross gaming revenue, 13% in 2026 rising to 15% by 2028, and players pay income tax on net annual winnings above an exemption threshold.
Procedures can change. Always follow the instructions of the official scheme or regulator. We2Bet is not affiliated with any self-exclusion scheme. Last reviewed October 2026.
