Plan a hard spending cap
If you choose to gamble, decide the maximum before you start โ from money left after bills, savings and debts. This planner works out a monthly and weekly cap you can turn into deposit limits.
Private by design. Everything runs in your browser. We don't store, send or track your answers. Not financial advice, and not an invitation to gamble.

Turning the cap into a real limit
A number on a page only helps if it's enforced. Set the weekly figure as a deposit limit with every operator you use โ see setting deposit, loss and time limits โ and consider a bank gambling block as a backstop. Treat the cap as the price of entertainment, already spent. Never chase it back.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a "safe" amount to gamble?
There is no amount that is risk-free, but research-based lower-risk guidelines (such as Canada's, published in 2021) suggest gambling no more than about 1% of household income before tax, no more than four days a month, and avoiding regular play on more than two types of gambling.
Why does the planner say zero if I have debts?
Gambling while repaying debt โ or with money you have borrowed โ is one of the clearest risk factors for harm. Any spare money is better used to clear debt first.
How do I make the limit stick?
Set a deposit limit with every operator you use, consider a bank gambling block for anything above it, and never top up from savings or credit.
